Feb 7, 2024: Outlaw country musician and radio DJ Mojo Nixon died today. He was a good guy. If you have to ask, you’ll never know, but if you’ve been living in a cave with Salinger, here’s Mojo’s Wikipedia page, here’s his obit on Variety Magazine.
I interviewed him back in 2012 for my podcast Anarchy Gumbo. I figured this was worth a re-share. Podcast website is gone, but thanks to teodesian.net for archiving all the episodes, so I was able to grab it and re-upload today.
Photo of Mojo grabbed online, if anyone knows the photog, please let me know and I’ll credit.
Fun fact: Mojo and I shared a music manager. Charlie Brown managed him and my old band Bomb (and also Jane’s Addiction.)
Charlie told me Mojo toured for YEARS in a van without real license plates, just had novelty “Elvis 1” Tennessee plates on the front and back, he bought them at the giftshop at Graceland.
My podcast interview is covered by the BipCot NoGov license, v1.2. This allows use and re-use by anyone except governments and government agents. There are no government guns for violators, only shame.
