I was 14, I was in a cover band in my hometown before I got shipped off to boarding school.
Singer in the band, his dad owned a club on the edge of town that had bands. I remember hearing something about him being mobbed up and dealing coke. (like the guy who owned the Mineshaft, good side hustle for a club owner)
One time I was hanging out with that singer, we stopped by his club in the day. A band was set up on stage, and left after sound check. I went up on the stage, the gear was still plugged in, I could hear that quiet hummmmm that feels so good.
The band had a Moog Taurus bass synth on the floor, same model as above. I hit one note with my foot. It shook the room and I was hooked.
Couldn’t afford any though. Really never could. I’ve owned some little boutique synths, but really didn’t get into synths until I got into VSTs with BipTunia in 2017.
I even frequently use a free VST that emulates that Moog quite well.
