March 25, 2023: ALL BUGS FIXED. DOES NOT CRASH. ALSO ADDED FINE AND ROUGH TUNING CONTROLS!
5377 microtonal tunings, plus you can add your own. Comes with 2 example samples, plus you can add any of your own. You can re-tune any instrument or any sound microtonally by using a sample of it.
A song using this sampler and 8 EDO scale. Note: microtonal music can take a few hours of listening to sound “right” lol. But this is one of many scales in this software:
Another song that uses this sampler. (in 31 TET, 23 TET, 10 EDphi, 8 ED3 (+12 edo) tonal scale options:

Simple Microtonal Sampler is the ONLY microtonal Windows sampler. And it’s free.
Includes 8 presets (including 2 in 12 TET, standard western common tuning, for comparison), two samples, and 5376 microtonal tunings. You can add your own WAV samples too.
The audio file above is a quick test I did with the two included samples, 31 TET temperament, and some drums.
The vocal sample is a male human saying “Intergalactic Gas” . The music sample is an A-440 sine wave.
Tested with 16-bit and 24-bit WAVs, both mono and stereo.
But of course, you can use your own samples. That’s the whole point!
Any WAV can be imported into the
/samples
subfolder.
The Tune Rough and Tune Fine sliders allow you to change the base note of a sample.
The default is zero in the middle. You can go above this or below this.
To return to zero, either type 0 in the box and hit enter, or you can move the sliders more slowly by holding down CTRL and moving the slider.
Or you can go above the presets and hit “Reset to factory default”, though this will reset everything.
You’ll have to use the picker to find the tunings file inside the VST file on your hard drive.
IF YOU EVER GET AN ERROR where you can’t close and/or use anything on the synth, it has not crashed, it is just looking in the wrong folder. This happens usually if you rename a file path that includes the VST. If this happens just look for the “MidiPlayer2” error message in your system tray, click on OK, and close it.

Add new tuning files in .MID format, can export from Scala.

Hi,
This is Enes, a blind composer and sound designer from Turkiye. I was so excited to download and try out your plug-ins, but have problems using them with the “screen reader” that I use, which is software that reads out the content displayed on the screen. I would therefore like to kindly request that you make your plug-ins’ GUI and parameters accessible for use with screen readers. One more question, or suggestion depending on your response, is whether the plug-ins have portamento functionality, and if not, that you add it.
Thanks and regards,
Enes
No portamento but try the High-Contrast GUI versions of our VSTs, have just white text on black background, may work better with screen readers, and will absolutely work better than our regular busy-GUI versions for anyone with any sight at all.
Let me know if those work better please. The link for the page is here:
