Directions are also in that Zip, but here there are also:
IMPORTANT, how to use PRESETS for VST3 Microtone 5000
From BipTunia Synths
(synth is here)
VST2s carry their presets with them in the same folder. For some reason, the company that created the VST standard decided to “fix what wasn’t broken” for VST3s, and put the VST3 preset folder in the Windows folder “Documents.”
We make a VST2 of Microtone 5000, but if your DAW will only do VST3s, we can help:
INSTALLING Microtone 5000 VST3
(If you’ve done this, skip to INSTALLING PRESETS)
- Close your DAW.
- Drag the folder Microtone_5000 (with sub-folders) into whatever folder you usually put your VSTs into. On many computers, that’s
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
Before you open the DAW, do this:
INSTALLING PRESETS
- Drag the included folder “VST3 Presets” into your Documents folder, here.
If you already had a VST3 Presets folder in there, allow it to overwrite. It will keep the document structure and other preset files in there.
(with “USERNAME” replaced with your actual computer’s user name)
2. Verify the final preset path:
C:\Users\(USERNAME)\Documents\VST3 Presets\BipTunia Synths\Microtone 5000 v0.91
Why do I have to do this? Other VSTs don’t need this!
Well, other VSTs use Microsoft installers, which can be problematic if you have your VSTs anywhere other than the folder a lot of people use.
They don’t allow for custom installs. In short: they assume you’re typical and don’t allow for creative thinking.
